The amphitheatre that you can see below was built in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1979 and 1980 it hosted two editions of Music Camping - the biggest music event in communist Poland at that time, which became the forerunner of such events as Country Picnic in Mrągowo, Blues nad Bobrem, Jarocin Festival and Woodstock Festival.
During the multi-day event in Lubań, a number of current stars performed, for many of whom it was their first serious appearance in front of such a large audience. Kombi, Wolna Grupa Bukowina, Jacek Skubikowski, Martyna Jakubowicz, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Krystyna Prońko, Hanna Banaszak, Bogusław Mec, Tadeusz Woźniak, Jonasz Kofta, Andrzej Zaucha, Stanisław Sojka, Grupa Pod Budą, Grażyna Łobaszewska, Kasa Chorych - among others - could be seen and heard at the first rock festival in Poland. Maanam and John Porter's Porter Band made their official stage debut in Lubań.
