Invest in Lubań

A replica of a Saxon-Polish post office has been erected by the town's cloth shops. Objects of this type were part of an extensive system of roadside information in Saxony. The purpose of the posts, erected along the Royal Road, was to inform postmasters, postmistresses and travellers of the distances between certain places and the time it would take to cover them. The Lubań replica is decorated with the coats of arms of Saxony and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the anagram AR (Augustus Rex), the Polish crown and the post horn. On the southern and western faces of the pyramid there are lists of towns and the distances between them and Lubań. The distances are given in Prussian miles (1 mile = 7500 m). The original pyramid stood at the Zgorzelec Gate and the present replica was erected at the instigation of the Upper Lusatia Lovers' Association.
